Prisons Queens declare readiness for KVF semifinals as duel moves to Mombasa

The Kenya Volleyball Women’s team, Prison Queens, have declared their readiness for the Kenya Volleyball Women’s Play-off semifinal duels starting on Friday, May 23, 2025.
Prisons are among the four teams in contention for the National League honours alongside the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), and Kenya Pipeline.
The quartet will renew rivalry at a fresh venue after the Volleyball Federation confirmed the shift of venue from Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium to Mombasa’s Makande Hall.
“We are ready for the playoff. Safari ya Mombasa for semis,” a statement from the club media page read.
Prisons clinched their semifinal ticket after brushing aside Kenya Army in three straight sets on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
The Josp Barasa team stormed to 25-18, 25-9, and 25-14 set wins to record the win and now see the DCI between them and a place in the coveted final playoffs.
KCB VS Pipeline
Patrick Sang’s DCI, on their part, made light work of Nairobi Water to secure a slot in the semifinals.
The clash will be a repeat of the league tie pitting the two sides back on May 3, 2025, where Prison emerged winners on a 3-1 scoreline.
Meanwhile, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Kenya Pipeline will battle it out in what will go down as the highlight of the semis.
Bankers beat Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) 3-0 to continue their quest for title defense and advance to the semis.
The Japheth Munala-coached side now angles for a fancied opponent in the shape of Pipeline, who dispatched Nairobi Prisons in a dominant three straight sets of 25-5, 25-18, and 25-11 to advance.
The men’s category will comprise a surprise package in Equity Bank, who mounted a dramatic comeback to beat Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) 3-2 in Game 3 of the quarterfinals.
The feat saw Jack Miduma’s coached side join GSU, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), and Prisons among the final four.
