Fake IDs, banned players and abandoned matches rock FKF leagues

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee has handed down a raft of disciplinary rulings involving clubs from the FKF Division One League and the FKF Women National Super League, following a series of eligibility breaches, impersonation, as well as match-day misconduct.
Among the most severe sanctions was a ruling against Gene Queens FC in FKF Women’s National Super League match number 112 against Eldoret Falcons FC.
The committee found Gene Queens guilty of fielding an ineligible player, with Irene Yego—officially registered with McMillan Queens FC, impersonating Evalyne Ayieta of Gene Queens using FKF License No. FKF049189.
The match was awarded to Eldoret Falcons with a 2-0 scoreline.
Yego was suspended for one year for impersonation and use of a falsified player card.
In the men’s Division One League, Marafiki FC were penalised in two separate cases arising from matchday incidents on March 23, 2025.
Against Bumbani FC, the club fielded Samuel Sichenje Wattang’a under a misleading name (“Samuel Watiang’a”) despite the player being actively registered with Bungoma Stars FC and lacking a valid transfer.
Bumbani FC was awarded the match (2-0, three points), and Wattang’a received a 365-day suspension for submitting false registration details.
GFE 105 FC were also cited in two rulings.
In match number 202 against Zoo FC on May 1, 2025, the fixture was deemed unplayed due to force majeure, as Kipchoge Keino Stadium was unavailable owing to renovations.
Though GFE 105 attempted a late venue switch to Eldoret Showgrounds, Zoo FC declined the change and appeared at the original venue.
The Committee ordered a replay of the match, with both teams to cover their own costs.
In a separate ruling, GFE 105 FC was found guilty of forfeiting match No. 195 against Vegpro FC on April 12, 2025.
Despite a revised kick-off time, GFE 105 arrived late after both the hosts and match officials had left the venue.
The match was awarded to Vegpro FC (2-0, three points).
In a related incident, Marafiki FC named suspended player Justin Okurumi among the substitutes in their clash with Ruiru Hot Stars FC.
Okurumi had previously been suspended for violent conduct in a match against Congo Boyz FC.
The Committee ruled in favour of Ruiru Hot Stars, awarding them a 2-0 win and three points.
Dynamo FC was held responsible for the abandonment of match number 183 against Kenya Navy FC, played on March 30, 2025, at the NYS Grounds in Mtongwe.
The match was halted in the 82nd minute after Dynamo players allegedly assaulted the centre referee.
The Committee awarded Kenya Navy a 2-0 win and issued season-long suspensions to three Dynamo players: Godfrey Murugi, John Mkwiche and Anthony Obinna.
Additionally, Kenya Navy FC was barred from hosting any further fixtures at the NYS Grounds for the rest of the season due to poor security arrangements.
