Victor Wanyama reflects on his stint with Dunfermline Athletic

Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has reflected on his short stay with Dunfermline Athletic of Scotland so far.
While admitting that he might not extend his stay beyond the current season, Wanyama said he has enjoyed his time with the club.
“Hopefully. Hopefully we will see, because I had a good short stay here, and it would be nice to be back and continue the adventure. I’d like to leave some sort of legacy—possibly by helping Dunfermline reach a higher league.
“My time here has gone really well. Everybody—from the staff to the players—welcomed me warmly. It’s really friendly, like a family here, and I’m happy to be part of it,” Wanyama told the club’s website.
His desire is now to leave a legacy with the club because he believes the outfit is big and is meant to feature in bigger competitions.
“I knew they were in the Championship, but with the club’s status and history, they don’t belong here. This is a club with tradition, and I understood how important it is to help return it to where it belongs,” he added.
The former Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder also reflected on how he signed the deal with the Scottish outfit.
When I got the call, I spoke to the gaffer and the owner. It was good to hear their ideas and where they see the club going. I couldn’t turn it down,” Wanyama said.
“I met James Bord, and we had a chat. He’s a real football guy—very passionate. What he shared with me aligned with what I was looking for,” he explained.
“He’s someone I respect deeply. He’s done a lot for me and took my career to another level. I’ve always appreciated that. I know how he works, and he’s been very influential in my career.”
“He asked me to come in, be a leader in the dressing room, help the team, and support the young players. I couldn’t resist. I’m still passionate about winning and watching young players develop. Seeing the club move forward gives me real motivation,” he revealed.
