Ruto: Kenya is on right track towards stability and progress

President William Ruto is confident that his government’s policies are leading the country towards a path of stability and progress.
The Head of State made the comment during the 62nd Madaraka Day celebrations that were held at the Raila Odinga Stadium on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
“I speak to you today with a deep conviction that our country is firmly on the path to stability and progress. We have weathered turbulent times, navigated serious challenges, and, through courageous policy decisions pursued with resolve, we have not only stabilized our economy but also charted a clear course towards long-term prosperity.
“Since August 2022, Kenya has recorded an average annual growth of an average of 5 per cent outperforming the global average of 3.3 per cent and the regional average of 3.8 per cent,” Ruto said.
The president cited projections by international firms as his evidence that the economy is doing well.
“Just last month, the International Monetary Fund projected our GDP to reach USD 132 billion; that is Ksh17 trillion, making us the largest economy in our region and the sixth-largest economy in our continent.
“At the same time, inflation has declined sharply from 9.6 per cent in October 2022 to 3.8 per cent in May this year, way below our target of 5 per cent, bringing welcome relief to households and businesses.
“This reflects the strength of our economic fundamentals and the impact of our bold reforms,” Ruto concluded.
Ruto’s defence of his policies comes at a time when the opposition is claiming little or nothing is working under the current government.
