Morara Kebaso blasts Kenyans who slept at Raila Odinga Stadium for Madaraka Day fete

Gen Z civic educator Morara Kebaso has slammed Kenyans who spent the night at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on the eve of Madaraka Day, accusing them of blind loyalty to leaders.
Taking to his social media platforms on Sunday, June 1, 2025, the outspoken activist questioned the logic behind thousands abandoning the comfort of their beds just to camp at the stadium and brave the nightlong cold in anticipation of Sunday’s national celebrations.

“How do you leave the comfort of your mattress & warm blanket to sleep in a cold stadium the ENTIRE NIGHT out of excitement for the person who has killed your dream of a better future by stealing everything from the economy? Alafu mnaniuliza, Why do I sound very angry nowadays?” Kebaso said.
The remarks come after reports indicated that Raila Odinga Stadium was already fully packed by 9:00 pm on Saturday, May 31, as enthusiastic citizens flocked to the venue to catch a glimpse of Sunday’s state event.
But to Kebaso, the crowd symbolised misplaced priorities.
He lashed out at the youth, urging them to resist being used as political pawns. According to him, the current generation is exposed, self-aware, and no longer driven by tribal politics, and they must use this to their advantage to liberate the country through the ballot in the coming elections.
“Listen, Kenyan youths, you are different. You are exposed and self-aware. You don’t value tribalism above good governance. Fortunately, you are the majority of voters. Unite and change this country in a ballot revolution. You are the last hope,” he said.
Kebaso further lamented that while ignorance still exists in the country, there is a growing number of enlightened citizens who only need unity to bring about real change.
“Wajinga hawajaisha Kenya, lakini habari njema ni kwamba werevu ni wengi zaidi. Shida ni migawanyiko ya ukabila tukisherehekea wafisadi kama wakombozi. Ninaamini itabadilika,” he wrote.
