WPL title in limbo as Ulinzi appeal stalls Bullets’ glory

Kenya Police Bullets FC are leading the 2024/25 FKF Women’s Premier League (WPL) table with 43 points from 20 matches, but their title hopes hang in the balance.
A pending appeal by Ulinzi Starlets has cast doubt on their possible back-to-back championship, with one round of fixtures left to play.
Eligibility dispute
The uncertainty stems from a protest filed by Ulinzi Starlets over their 2-2 draw against Zetech Sparks on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi.
Ulinzi claim Zetech fielded Bertha Omita while her transfer was still incomplete, making her ineligible to play in the match.
If the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) rules in Ulinzi’s favour, they would be awarded two more points, moving from 39 to 41.
That would place them just two points behind Kenya Police Bullets with one match to go, keeping the title race alive into the final round.
If the appeal is dismissed and Zetech are awarded the points instead, their total would rise to 36, but Kenya Police Bullets would be crowned champions regardless of the outcome of the final match day.

Draw adds pressure
With one match to go, Kenya Police Bullets’ recent 0-0 draw with Vihiga Queens pushed them to 43 points at the top of the table. But the stalemate may prove inadequate to seal the title if FKF rules in favour of Ulinzi Starlets.
Despite remaining unbeaten and boasting one of the league’s best defensive records, conceding just seven goals in 20 matches, the team must now wait as the federation deliberates the appeal.
Calls for clarity
The ongoing delay has raised concern from various football stakeholders, who say the indecision is affecting league integrity and team preparations.
Many are urging FKF to resolve the matter before the final match day to avoid further disruption.
As it stands, Police lead with 43 points, Ulinzi have 39, and Kibera Soccer Women are third with 38. But until FKF delivers a verdict on the appeal, the WPL title remains undecided and the season’s climax shrouded in uncertainty.
