Omondi reveals winning philosophy after Pipeline reclaimed KVF title

Kenya Pipeline coach Geoffrey Omondi has spoken about his side’s rallying display to reclaim the Kenya Volleyball Federation championship.
Speaking after the Oilers triumphed over DCI to win the best-of-three series 2-0 on Saturday, June 7, 2025, Omondi admitted that facing it was hard from a team determined to leave their all on the pitch in the final encounter.
“I had said the DCI team is an unpredictable opponent. They are a good side and gave us a hard time, and we needed to dig deep for the win,” he said.
Omondi observed that he deeply held the belief that his side would emerge victorious despite the fightback from the sleuths.
In the tie, Pipeline needed two and a half hours to snap the resolute DCI team’s resolve.
“From inside, I knew we were winning, but it was not going to be easy. After they took the two sets, I sat here with my girls and reminded them of our slogan: Yes we can! We fought back in the second, they took the third, and we took the fourth and the fifth to win,” he said.

He reserved praises for his nemesis coach, Patrick Sang, who guided the investigative agency team to a podium finish.
“He did his homework well, and they came guns blazing. They studied us, and we had to change one or two things. Today they didn’t play the cautious game but came all out attacking,” he added.
Omondi, in his parting shot, called for the inclusion of the outstanding young players in the national team, stating they have worked to earn their slots with their performance in the national playoffs.

The playoff provided the perfect platform for the Malkia Strikers’ coach to catch a glimpse of who to incorporate into his team, and it remains to be seen if he walks the talk and calls up a number of those starlets who produced eye-catching displays.
“You have seen how the upcoming players are doing well, and I feel it’s time they are given a chance. We want to have the finest team that can fight for each and every point out there,” he said.
KCB Volleyball Club clinched the third-place spot of the 2025 KVF Finals following a 3-1 set win over rivals Kenya Prisons Queens on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
