Uproar over potholes on road

Residents of Kangema in Murang’a expressed their frustrations over the poor construction of the Mau Mau road which has started developing pot holes barely a month after it’s completion.
The residents claim the contractor did a shoddy job and have urged the government to compel the contractor to redo the road.
The 10-kilometre stretch from Kanyenyaini to Kiruri is a tributary road of the major mau mau road which cuts across four counties in the central region.
Ann Mugure, a resident, said transportation has been a nightmare for ages.
She said when to contractor came to the site they were happy because they thought they would get a better road.
“The contractor only did the earth work and left and this made it worse especially during rains n,” she said.
Hiram Njuguna, another resident who claims to have been involved in the construction, said the engineers overlooked several things which compromised the quality of the road.
Kangema MP Peter Kihungi said he had reached out to Kenya National Highways Authority over the issue.
