Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
Reactions to Raila’s Senate address
Reactions are expected after ODM Party leader Raila Odinga addressed the Senate, in what analysts say is a return of the powerful Prime Minister in the broad-based government.
Receiving Raila at the Senate chambers was the Senate leadership and senators from across the political divide, signifying what appears to be an entrenchment of Raila’s influence in the government and its affairs.
During his visit, Raila observed that the Senate should possess greater powers similar to those in the United States of America, underscoring the significant role parliament plays.

“We want the Senate to work where senators have powers and responsibility. We must empower the Senate just like the Senate in the US,” Raila said.
“Parliament is one of the institutions of governance that also allocates resources. The work of MPs is to represent, legislate and provide oversight. We have implemented the 2010 Constitution for more than 10 years, and we now know where the problems lie.”
Focus on missing Ugandan activist
Following the release of Kenyan activist Boniface Mwangi from Tanzanian authorities, focus is expected to shift on his counterpart Agather Atuhaire, who was detained alongside him.
Details remain scant on the whereabouts of the Ugandan activist even as Mwangi disclosed that they were detained and tortured together with her before being separated.

“I am very concerned about Agather because we were tortured together, and they did very horrible things to us. So, I hope Agather is safe,” Mwangi stated.
“I have gone through four dark days; I have been tortured very badly. I can barely walk.”
The activists had flown into Tanzania to attend a court session of detained opposition leader Tundu Lissu, who has been charged with treason, and whose sentence could result in the death penalty if convicted.
