New officials of Martha Karua’s PLP revealed

Martha Karua’s People’s Liberation Party has unveiled the new party officials during a rebranding event from the National Rainbow Alliance Party of Kenya( NARC Kenya) held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in Nairobi.

Among the new party officials announced includes Kelvin Kile who is the national deputy party leader. Asha Bashir has been confirmed as the party’s Secretary General.

Kinangop politician Ribathi Gichuke has been confirmed as the national organizing secretary, while Haniel Basilio is the party youth leader.

“The People’s Liberation Party is a movement for all Kenyans who believe in justice, equality, and true democratic governance. Our rebrand is not just about a new name but about revitalizing the struggle for a better Kenya—one that upholds the rule of law, respects the rights of all citizens, and delivers real change; because change cannot wait,” Karua’s message on the party’s Facebook page.

Speaking at the event, Bashir termed the rebranding as a momentous time for the party and Kenyan politics at large.

“This is one of the most fundamental moments in our country. This journey started 17 years ago. We are coming with not only a change of colours but also fresh breath in terms of constitutional changes that we happened party colours, and ideologies. We are saying Liberate and Unite. We have to liberate this country and take our rightful position in the country,” she said.

The deputy party leader also sought to explain the change of colours in the rebranding.

“We have retained its flower symbol and the motto as revealed in the past. Purple is a rallying call for unity amid political divisions. It is what we are seeing in the country. We welcome all to come and join this home. We are beefing up this story and more details.

Karua lauded

The official also lauded Karua’s influential role in guiding the party since its inception in Kenyan politics in 2006.

“This party espouses the values I hold dear: transparency, accountability, and honesty. The party has remained consistent ever since the party was born in 2006. All this is thanks to our senior counsel and leader, Martha Karua, the people’s defender. She has ensured it remains on the straight and narrow,” he added.

“We are here to reenergize our people, to renew our commitment to service and protection of Kenyans. PLP is going to form a home for all people tired of being targets of economic impeachment that are in this government. All Kenyans who stand aside while our nation is being taken down the drain. Our party will be a party representing the Kenyan youths with a mission to unite and liberate Kenyans. I welcome you all to the home of liberation, Kile said.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka are among the politician who are gracing the event. Others included Nyandarua Senator John Methu and his Kiambu counterpart Karungo wa Thangw’a.
