Inject Party leader Morara Kebaso has called on Kenyan youths to reject tribalism and elect leaders based on vision and integrity rather than ethnic backgrounds.

In a message shared via his X account on Monday, April 28, 2025, Morara challenged young Kenyans to take responsibility for their future. He warned that continuing to vote for corrupt leaders because of tribal loyalty only worsens the struggles many youths face.

“If you are a jobless youth who is currently struggling with life, but you are choosing corrupt leaders based on their tribe and not based on their vision or integrity, I am sorry to tell you this. But you are a product of your decisions,” Morara said.

“I sympathize with your situation, but this is the life you have chosen. Youths of Kenya, rise up and be leaders of your communities. Stop depending on the people who have stolen from you to help you.”

Tribal lines

Morara’s call builds on a promise he made in December 2024 when he committed to leading Kenya’s Generation Z in rejecting tribal politics.

At the time, he criticized political groupings that are built along tribal lines, saying they only promote ethnic exclusion and slow down national progress.

“I will lead the Gen Zs towards rejecting any political formation that is organized on the foundation of a tribe or coalition of tribes. We are tired of political parties that glorify ethnic exclusion,” he declared in a statement posted on December 9, 2024.

He urged young Kenyans to stand against leaders who use their tribal affiliations to evade accountability.

He further condemned leaders who use tribalism as a shield against criticism, describing them as obstacles to development.

“Any leader escaping accountability on the basis that his or her tribe is being targeted is our enemy. Hatutakubali. Wasahau kabisa,” Morara said.

On January 18, 2025, the youthful activist reiterated that his party will not enter coalitions with influential politicians at the expense of integrity ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Kebaso criticized calls to partner with powerful figures, including those perceived as corrupt, purely to defeat President William Ruto.

“Some people are saying that we should form a coalition with anyone who is influential, including corrupt individuals, for the sole purpose of defeating William Ruto. We strongly disagree,” Kebaso stated.

He stressed that the INJECT Party will remain rooted in its principles and called for integrity to be a key issue in the election.

“Let us take integrity to the ballot and allow Kenyans to decide if they want it or not,” he urged.

Kebaso further rejected the idea of backing questionable leaders as a political compromise, dismissing the popular phrase better the devil you know.

“The politics of ‘better the devil you know’ belongs in the bins. We don’t want any devil, whether we know that devil or not,” he affirmed.
