Gakuya reveals Gachagua’s plan to mainstream DCP party

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya has shed light on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s next move in solidifying the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) as a national political force.
Speaking during an interview in a local TV station on June 24, 2025, Gakuya revealed that Gachagua intends to launch the DCP party in the Maa community in Kajiado, following the cancellation of the initial plans to host the event at Kasarani Stadium.
After the local launch, Gachagua will head abroad to open new DCP offices and engage Kenyans in the diaspora.
“Rigathi Gachagua will launch the DCP Party, then travel overseas to open more offices and meet more Kenyans in the diaspora,” Gakuya said.
“The DCP Party launch was relocated after Kasarani Stadium plans were cancelled. Gachagua said it will now take place in the Maa community in Kajiado.” Gakuya posed.
Chaotic unveiling
The latest revelations come just weeks after the DCP’s chaotic unveiling on May 15, 2025, in Lavington, which was marred by violence and disruptions. Goons stormed the event, forcing Gachagua’s security to fire into the air to restore order. Despite the rocky start, the party has remained firm in its resolve to push forward, anchored on its core philosophy—Skiza Wakenya (Listen to Kenyans).
Gachagua shifted his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) launch venue from Nairobi to the Maa region, with the event set to take place on July 7, 2025. He made this announcement after a delegation of Maa leaders visited his Wamunyoro residence on June 23, 2025.

Gakuyah noted that the nationwide tour is aimed at popularising the party and connecting with grassroots supporters across all counties. The campaign is expected to reinforce DCP’s mission to build an inclusive, citizen-driven government that listens to every Kenyan.
He went on to say that his previous meetings were often disrupted by goons, but he believes that once the official party launch is held in the Maa region, there will be no such infiltration.
The DCP, which describes itself as a home for patriots committed to justice, dignity, and national unity, has positioned its messaging to reflect a deliberate break from the current administration. Gachagua’s fallout with President William Ruto has fuelled speculation that he is gearing up for a political showdown ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to Gakuya, the planned two months diaspora outreach is part of a broader strategy to tap into the financial muscle, political influence, and strategic networks of Kenyans living abroad. By taking the DCP message beyond Kenya’s borders, Gachagua hopes to rally support and strengthen the party’s foundation both locally and internationally.
As political temperatures rise, Gachagua’s efforts to mainstream the DCP mark a bold attempt to carve out a new path—one that promises to amplify the voices of ordinary Kenyans and reshape the national discourse.
